Why you chose your major

I chose meteorology because I love the weather and nature. I also wanted a career where I could serve those around me. I chose to include a communication studies minor because half of meteorology is making forecasts that the public sees. Keeping the public safe through effective communication is what it's all about.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

Intro to Atmospheric Science. I got a more in depth look into meteorology and developed a greater understanding of the challenges of forecasting and the impacts the weather has on everything.

Research or internship experience

During summer of 2023, I will be participating in a research project called TORUS. It is a study of supercell thunderstorms lead by UNL. I will be storm chasing and exploring pre-storm environments and the severity of storms in certain regions.

Other involvement

I am involved in many Intramural Sports through the Newman Center and with friends. I also am a member of the American Meteorological Society UNL Chapter. I am also in the University Honors Program and have been an after-school club leader at Mickle Middle School in Lincoln.

Why you chose Nebraska

Nebraska has a great meteorology program that was recommended to me by other professionals. It also is close to home. Finally, I have always grown up a husker fan and always wanted to be a Husker.
