Biochemistry, Business (CoB)

Why you chose your major

I chose to major in Biological Sciences because it aligned with my career goals the best and also interested me the most. I chose to minor in biochemistry because it supplements my major in Biology and also is an area that I am interested in. I chose to minor in Business because it was an area that I think will benefit me after college and will allow my brain to take a break from science once in a while.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

The class that made the biggest impact on me was Chemistry 109 (General Chemistry I). This class was the most challenging course I had ever taken to this point and taught me a lot about how to study and how much more I needed to study in college than I did in high school.

Research or internship experience

I have the privilege of being an undergraduate research assistant in the Neurocircuitry of Motivated Behavior (NMB) Lab here at Nebraska. By doing research, I've gained experience and knowledge that I wouldn't be able to get in the classroom and have been able to further my learning about biology and psychology.

Other involvement

I am on the Environmental Sustainability Committee as a part of ASUN Student Government, I volunteer at Bryan Medical Center in the emergency department, and I am also in the Nebraska Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, where I serve as the IFC Delegate.

Why you chose Nebraska

I decided to come to Nebraska because it was the best option for me. Between the proximity to home, affordability, and ways it would set me up for success in the future, I knew the UNL was the best spot for me.

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
