Innocents Society, Mortar Board members named for 2021

Students from the College of Arts and Sciences were recently inducted into Mortar Board and the Innocents Society based on their outstanding scholarship, leadership and service to the university and community.

Innocents Society

The Innocents Society inducts 13 new members each spring, with selection based on leadership, academic achievement and service to the university and greater community. The chancellor's senior honorary was founded in 1903 to promote the spirit of the university.

Arts and Sciences students:

  • Patrick Baker, global studies and political science
  • Gunther Grinde, chemistry and biochemistry
  • Caroline Hilgert, Spanish and political science
  • Leigh Jahnke, biological sciences and Spanish

Mortar Board, Black Masque Chapter

New members of Mortar Board are added to the Black Masque Chapter each spring by current members wearing black masks and robes. Membership is based on advancing scholarship, leadership, and service.
