Careers

A wide range of careers are possible. Our graduates have gone on to careers in secondary and post-secondary teaching, business and international business, law and international law, medicine, the natural and physical sciences.

How our program prepares you for the field

The curriculum balances Russian culture, language, and literature with a wide variety of courses.

Many choose to double-major in a second discipline – some in another language or in the humanities, others in the natural or social sciences.

Russian courses are taught by professors who are internationally known faculty members who are experts in Russian language, literature and culture.

In addition to covering courses in a broad range in the language sequence, they also have expertise in applied linguistics, teaching methodology, literary studies and culture. They engage in interdisciplinary research and collaborate with various departments to offer interdisciplinary courses.

The faculty members have received “Distinguished Teaching Award” from the College and certificates from UNL Parents for excellence in teaching. They work closely with Yaroslavl State University in Russia and other study abroad programs and regularly arrange for UNL students to study in Russia for a semester or a summer.
