Why you chose your major

I chose Geology as a major because I love science, and knew that I needed a career that allowed me to spend a lot of time outdoors. I chose National Security Studies as a minor because I enjoy learning about current events that are relevant to the world I live in.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

I loved Mineralogy, where we learned about how to identify different types of minerals and how they form. I had no idea how complicated the process is, and I was able to learn lots of information that will be useful in future classes and jobs.

Research or internship experience

I participated in the Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experience. I worked with a mentor to study how different land uses affect stream metabolism. I learned new skills, such as field techniques, that'll be useful in my future career.

Other involvement

I'm a resident assistant. It's fun to be able to plan events and get to know a wide variety of people.

Why you chose Nebraska

I chose to come to Nebraska because I wanted to be close enough to my home city that I could visit easily, but also far enough away that I could experience a new place. I also wanted a school that was big enough to have a wide variety of classes and majors.
