Alexis Partridge, an academic advisor in the Department of Psychology, was selected for this year's Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award. Recipients directly deliver advising services to undergraduates and go beyond basic job duties and responsibilities by providing support, empowerment, coaching, counseling, and guidance to enable students to succeed academically and in life.

Her nominators wrote:

"Students need to feel safe and be able to be vulnerable with their advisor. We stress that by articulating and valuing the importance that advisors should care about their students and want to support their overall success and well-being. Alexis, without question, creates an ethical, safe, and inclusive environment for all members of the university community."

"Several students and her faculty peers specifically drew attention to her attention to detail, and the diligence she takes in maintaining accurate and complete student advising records. In some ways, I believe this also aligns well with Alexis' ability to provide accurate, comprehensive, and consistent information about program and degree requirements to support undergraduates' progress on academic and life goals, from the moment of orientation to graduation and beyond."

Partridge earned her B.A. ('12, communication studies and Spanish) and M.A. ('16, higher education administration) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She will be formally recognized at "The Laurels" event in the fall. More information about the award is available online.
