Why you chose your major

I picked biology due to its broad applicability in the sciences. Biology would give me the opportunity to have a career in research, or give me the foundation to continue to graduate and medical school.

Favorite course

My favorite course has been Organic Chemistry. I had a very dynamic professor that made a difficult class manageable, and I was able to further develop my critical thinking skills.

Research or internship experience

I have worked in a plant pathology lab since the summer of my freshman year. However during my Junior year, I was able to work on bacteriophages by using techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis to identify the familial clusters that they belong to. I was able to learn many different methods while working on one common goal for the lab.

Other involvement

Minority Pre-Health Association, Cultural Ambassadors, Model United Nations, College of Arts and Sciences senator for ASUN student government, Co-chair for the committee for Diversity & Inclusion for ASUN.

Why you chose Nebraska

I had been on campus several times in high school due to summer camps, and I was always impressed with the way Faculty/Staff interacted with students. I knew that if I picked UNL I would be going to a school where although it is a large institution, I would still be able to build connections with faculty and students from a variety of disciplines.

Student Ambassadors group

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
