Communication Studies

Why you chose your major

I love studying people, how they communicate, and how that affects society. In addition, this major offers versatility. Many jobs can teach you the skills you need to succeed, but practicing effective communication skills may make you a more valuable employee.

Favorite course

COMM101, simply because it introduced me to an area of study that I did not know I would enjoy and could lead to a potential career.

Research or internship experience

As a freshman, I participated in a Learning Community. This was a great way that helped introduce me to college life and meet some of my best friends. It also gave me experiences that I would not have been able to do without it like having a peer mentor, going on a Chicago trip, and community building activities. As far as research, education abroad, and internships I look forward to doing them all!

Other involvement

At UNL I am a member of the Communication Studies Undergraduate Student Advisory Board (CSUGSAB). This Board is professor lead and its mission is to strengthen the Communication Studies community as well as educate others about the major.

Why you chose Nebraska

UNL had the BIG10 school spirit that I was looking for and after experiencing the "Nebraska Nice" I knew it was a place that I could call home.

Student Ambassadors group

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
