Major
English and Political Science
Sophomore
Omaha, NE
Why did you select your major(s) and minor(s)? Were there any experiences that convinced you to declare?
Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to be a best selling author. It wasn't until my high school English class where I learned that I could get a degree in a subject I am extremely passionate about, English. I just added on my Political Science degree freshman year of college because I have always been interested in learning how governments work and applying that to current day.
What is your favorite course you have taken from your program(s)?
I would say that my Writings and Communities class was one of my favorites so far because we chose a community for the entire semester that we wanted to write and advocate for, either through research, personal profiles, or sharing what we learn. In terms of my other degree, I found International Relations very interesting as it broadens your perspective globally, rather than nationally. I had also never taken a class like it before in high school. .
Who have been some of your strongest mentors or role models here?
A lot of my friends are my role models because it is very inspiring to see them follow a path that they have been interested in their whole lives, similar to my own path.
Did you/are you going to study abroad?
I am planning to study abroad my junior year!
What are you involved in on campus?
I am an active member of CASSAB, the Student Advisory Board for the College of Arts and Sciences. I also work at the University Libraries!
What are your plans after graduation?
For the moment I am planning on either Law or Grad school, but who knows, I'm only a sophomore so it could change!
