Why you chose your major

Choosing my major and minor came easily to me. Growing up in Montana, I had first hand experience with those on reservations as well as family members going through pain and suffering. I knew I wanted to help those people, and through my dedication and hard-work I plan to establish my own private practice in counseling and psychological services for those in communities that need it most. My goal is to be a role model and helping hand for those back home.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

Introduction to Ethnic Studies made the biggest impact on me because it broadened and informed a totally new mindset of mine. A mindset to recognize and understand other hardships, upbringings, and viewpoints from different ethnicities than mine. I gained a lot of friendships and respect for those in my class and the religions, cultures, and ethnicities they represent.

Other involvement

Resident Assistant, Campus Red Cross.

Why you chose Nebraska

I decided to come to Nebraska because I have always valued diversity within many aspects of my life. I saw that Nebraska was home to a diverse student body, resources, and opportunities. The real world outside of college is a big, busy place, so I knew that Nebraska would provide the tools and experiences in order for me to work on myself to then turn to be a benefit to society.

Student Ambassadors group
