Why you chose your major

I began my collegiate career with political science, and everything else came to me as I began exploring my many interests while in college, whether it be something like history - a subject that I have loved for as long as I can remembered - or my third major in philosophy - something that started as an interesting ACE course-turned minor-turned major. Instead of dropping one interest so I could focus on another, I decided that I refused to compromise my education for convenience or ease, and triple majored!

Favorite course

My favorite course has been an ethics course taught in the philosophy department. I loved because not only was I able to truly find my niche within philosophy, but the small class size forced me to break out of my shell, allowing me to walk away with great new relationships, a thesis advisor, and a spot on the University's Ethics Bowl team.

Research or internship experience

I have had an internship with Congressman Fortenberry, and an internship with Nebraska Appleseed. Both were great experiences, and they truly allowed me to realize some values of mine that have stuck with me throughout childhood and now into adulthood: service, security, and impact. This has pointed me in the direction of national security with a law enforcement emphasis. Both of those internships allowed me to find who I wanted to become later in life.

Other involvement

I am the secretary for Greek Ambassadors, a member of the executive committee for CAS Ambassadors, a member of the Lobbying Committee for Amnesty International, a member of the Membership Committee for Intelligence Community Scholars, a team member of the Ethics Bowl team, as well as multiple honor societies and other organizations on this campus. Furthermore, I am the National Director of Staff for the Miss Amazing Pageant, a pageant for girls and women with disabilities. My vast interests have allowed me to spread myself to different parts of campus, all while being able to relate it back to my education and future career.

Why you chose Nebraska

My Red Letter Day was a big selling point - the beautiful campus and happy people really made an impact, but I was also very impressed by the students that I met. This was one of the few universities and colleges that I walked away from thinking, "I want to be just like those students." I looked up to them, I saw myself in their shoes, and I was confident that the University of Nebraska could get me there. I guess you could say that this is also why I chose to be an Ambassador.

Student Ambassadors group

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
