Why you chose your major

I love the problem solving aspect of math and the thought processes behind solving problems. That led to declaring CS as a second major because I took a course and the processes are very similar. The translation of that logic to tangible programs is exciting to see come to life.

Favorite course

Design Studio. We work for a year on a project for a real-world sponsor developing software and/or hardware solutions to their problem, which we get to present at the end of the year. Getting to work with a team of students passionate about software and hardware and work through the product life cycle is a fantastic experience.

Research or internship experience

I interned for HUMANeX Ventures in Lincoln the summer after freshman year and developed a from-scratch platform to help automate system processes. They gave me the tools I needed to succeed and gave me the room to learn and grow while doing so!

Other involvement

I work as a Cybersecurity intern for the University of Nebraska's Information Technology Services. Additionally, I'm a member of the Ballroom Dance Club, Kauffman Residents' Assocation, Alpha Omega (a campus ministry), and UNL's chapter of Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).

I have been the President of UNL's AWM chapter since last fall and it's been an awesome experience to reignite the spark in the chapter and help it grow through awareness events and panels.

Why you chose Nebraska

I wanted to be close to home and UNL has a superb mathematics department (my initial focus coming in), plus it was affordable from scholarships, making it a win!

Student Ambassadors group

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
