Microbiology, Biological Sciences
Why you chose your major
I have always loved science classes, especially Biology. I chose Microbiology and Biology because my interest is mostly at an organism and cellular level!
My favorite course in college was my developmental psychology class. I loved learning about our development mentally emotionally through every stage of life and applying it to every day life and work. It was the first psychology class and sparked my decision to make psychology my minor.
Research or internship experience
I have had to opportunity to work at Edgewood Dental Group for over a year now. It has been amazing opportunity to learn about the profession I am interested in pursuing through hands on experience in the office. It has taught me a lot about how an office flows, working as a unit with my coworkers, and how to be personable with every patient that walks through the doors.
I am in the Greek house Kappa Alpha Theta, I am a part of the Nebraska Spirit Squad, and I am the president of Pre-Dental Club. I have been a member of the Pre-Dental Club since my freshman year. It has always been something I have enjoyed participating in and it kept my interest in the dental field at a high level. This year, I have the opportunity to serve as the President. I look forward to the great experiences I can bring to other students at UNL who are also interested in dentistry and learn more for myself as well.
Why you chose Nebraska
As someone who was born and raised in Nebraska, it was never a question where I wanted to go to college. UNL has always been a huge part of my life. Both of my parents attended UNL for undergraduate school and UNMC for professional school so I knew that the education and opportunities Nebraska provides is second to none. Husker Athletics has also been something engrained into me since a very young age. I could not imagine supporting a school other than "Dear Old Nebraska U." Deciding to come to UNL is one of the best decision I have ever made. Nebraska has given me wonderful opportunities to excel academically, be involved on campus, and serve as a leader for others!
