Opening for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator

The College of Arts and Sciences seeks applications and nominations for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Dean’s Office and serve as a liaison between the college and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to ensure implementation of an “institutional-change” approach toward inclusive excellence and diversity throughout the college. 

The appointment will be at 0.3 FTE. Responsibilities include:

  • Advise CAS units and assisting the Dean’s Office with cultivating supportive and inclusive academic units
  • Assist with faculty recruitment efforts (position descriptions, active outreach, building diverse candidate pools, and short lists)
  • Assist with successful faculty transitions and orientations to UNL
  • Advise the college on assessing faculty climate in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Serve as a liaison between CAS and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) by sharing resources and assisting Diversity Ambassadors working with search committees within CAS
  • Work in collaborative partnership with the Director of Faculty Diversity in ODI
  • Serve as the CAS representative to the Council for Inclusive Excellence and Diversity (CIED)
  • Co-chair the college’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Committee (IDEA), ensuring that the IDEA committee is working collaboratively with all units in the college in support of our goals for inclusive excellence
  • Facilitate coordination and reciprocal communication between CAS and the Journey for Anti-Racism and Racial Equity, and other units (e.g., Institute for Ethnic Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies) and working groups/diversity officers across campus related to diverse faculty recruitment, retention, career advancement, and support

Candidates must be full-time tenured faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences. 

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
