An Applause for

Jake Connelly

Project Associate
Bureau of Sociological Research

“Jake has been a rock for BOSR during the COVID-19 pandemic with his willingness to take sole and full responsibility for on-campus tasks. By doing this Jake helped BOSR achieve the dual goals of continuing to serve its clients and minimizing COVID-19 risk to its staff. Jake's work on campus enabled the rest of the BOSR staff to do their wok successfully from home. These are extraordinary times, and Jake rose to the occasion and deserves to be recognized for his effort and his central contribution to the BOSR team. ”

“I nominate Jake because he is always willing to help. When he is given a task/job, you can be confident that he will get it done and done efficiently. If he does not know about something, he will be sure to figure it out and share his findings with others. Jake also brings positive energy to the work place and those around him.”

“Jake went above and beyond in 2020 to help keep our office running as smoothly as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of our projects would not have been possible or successful without all of Jake's hard work. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for BOSR, Jake! We would not be where we are today without you!”

“Jake is always willing to help out. When BOSR had to move remote in March/April, Jake was willing to be the only person allowed into the office to track the hundreds of pieces of mail. He was always willing to help out, from dropping things off from the office and keeping our data entry of paper surveys moving to scanning documents to others and restarting computers when needed. In addition, Jake is starting to manage projects, and is a natural at client communication and management of many moving pieces. Jake deserves an Applause for helping to keep BOSR running during COVID!”

“Jake has been a tremendous help to me since I transitioned to the remote working environment due to COVID. My job consists of many small pieces and many of those require actual paper documentation. Jake has been my go to ‘in the office’ guy. He has been scanning/emailing me documents, as well as rebooting my computer (and others) numerous times since April. He has tracked down supply deliveries that ended up elsewhere in Oldfather and delivered other packages to Devan Crawford on 4th floor. He also faxes biweekly pay information on several employees to the Social Security Administration. All of this saves me from making special trips to campus. All in all he has made this transition much smoother for me and I would love to see him recognized for that.”

“Jake has been pivotal to BOSR's success in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. He has literally risen to every task we have given him. First, Jake was the sole BOSR employee with permission to be in our Oldfather office even when that meant that we needed special University permission to be in the office. BOSR had many mail projects in the field when the University moved to Level 4 resulting in countless mail bins of returned mail waiting for us. Jake sorted and processed all of this mail, which literally took months. He did all of this without complaint. As the only person in the office, he also assisted BOSR staff by scanning documents, mailing packages, restarting the occasional computer, and whatever else others needed. He again did this with a smile. Now that more staff are able to be in the office, Jake continues to support us all from the office to minimize the number of people we have in the office at a time. Jake has been invaluable during COVID, and BOSR would have stopped in its tracks without him. Jake Connelly is most certainly deserving of an Applause Award.”

“Jake joined our team full-time after graduating, and has been a wonderful addition and help to the work we do. Over the last 8 to 9 months Jake has gone above and beyond with the abrupt changes our office faced due to the pandemic. For most of this time he was the only full-time person going in office to track thousands of pieces of mail, coordinate exchanging materials in and outside of BOSR, helping BOSR staff that might need something checked in-office, etc. These are just a few of the duties Jake picked up, and not only did he do them willingly, he did them very well. Our office could not have gone through the working from home transition nearly as smoothly if Jake had not stepped up to the plate. He is an awesome person to work alongside, and answers when duty calls in ways beyond what we even could imagine.”
