An Applause for
Jamie Longwell
Human Resources Specialist
Department of Psychology
2022
“I can say that without Jamie, I likely wouldn't be in graduate school, or be as successful as I have been in my career. Albeit, my trajectory has been different than others, but knowing that Jamie is there to support me, both for academic questions and issues, but also for a truly rewarding personal relationship. Jamie is a warm and caring person, that also has a wit and ease about her that makes her simply a joy to be around. If not for Jamie, I wouldn't have been able to pursue non-traditional opportunities that have allowed me to pursue a different career path. She was always there to support me, but also keep me in line, which is what I need. I am forever grateful to her and truly hope I have the opportunity one day to show her how much she's meant to me.”

“Jamie has been so helpful for us at CCFL during our HR transition period. In addition to doing her regular duties she has taken on CCFL's HR work, including multiple new hires and several PAF changes. She has been great to work with, communicating effectively and responsive to all my questions.”

“Jamie is the longest serving member of our office staff and the most vital administrative presence. She knows everything, she's quick to respond and help when you need anything, and she's very flexible when changes are needed. I have always worked with Jamie but am doing so more so now as I have just started the Graduate Chair position in my department, and I'm already awestruck by how much she knows, does, and how much easier that makes things for everyone in the department. I can't believe it's been more than a decade since we nominated her for this again!”

“Jamie has been helping the Center on Children, Families, and the Law with our HR needs as our Center has currently not filled a vacancy. Jamie has been incredibly helpful and always ready to assist as CCFL has been on a hiring frenzy. Jamie has gone above and beyond to help our Center and we are so very grateful for her skill and expertise.”

“Jamie helps me out with anything and everything I need. When I was sick and missed the deadline to turn something in to be reimbursed, she worked with me to make sure I can get compensated, which is a big deal for graduate students! I also don't know how I would complete my assistantship without her setting up the paperwork and handling all of the administrative work that comes along with the business. Sometimes she even reaches out to remind me of things I'm missing, which is just going above and beyond, definitely. There are few people who are as deserving of this award as Jamie.”

“Jamie is a critical member of the Psychology department and helps ensure smooth operations in a number of areas. I want to especially highlight Jamie's exceptional efforts in managing a large number of external contracts that fund student community practicum placements through the Clinical Psychology Training Program. Her prompt and careful work with these contracts enables our students to receive funding for their practicum work in the community, which is extremely beneficial to students, the university, and community partners. Working with a wide variety of agencies is often challenging, and Jamie goes above and beyond in her persistent and creative problem-solving when problems arise. She is a pleasure to work with, consistently produces high-quality work, and is an invaluable member of our administrative team. Her efforts merit recognition.”

“Jamie has gone above and beyond assisting CCFL on all their different HR matters while a search has been going on for their HR person who left. Not only that, but she continues to assist the faculty in Psychology on basically everything because of her wealth of knowledge. In addition, she has played a primary role in keeping the Psychology Department moving forward during the Covid pandemic.”

“Jamie has really kept the graduate program functioning through the pandemic. Her ability to pivot to do everything online and keep track of each student's grad studies paperwork has been phenomenal. Jamie always does great work but her dedication to students and the program over this past year has been extraordinary. This award is well deserved.”

“I truly appreciate Jamie Longwell’s longstanding, dedicated, and talented service. Jamie provides a wide variety of essential supports to the Department and our graduate programs, including the Clinical Psychology Training Program. She is always an integral, patient, supportive member of our efforts, and this remained true throughout the challenging circumstances associated with the pandemic. She keeps things running smoothly, and patiently and creatively problem-solves and adapts to changing circumstances. We are very fortunate to have Jamie on our staff, and our faculty, students, and her fellow staff are appreciative of her many contributions. She greatly deserves our “applause.””
