Why do you like your job?
I love my job because of the diverse skill sets, knowledge, and people I get to engage with daily, all while making a meaningful impact. Recently, I worked on CDC’s Data Modernization Implementation Center Program, collaborating with national partners, the CDC, and public health agencies to advance health IT standards and data exchange nationwide. Opportunities like this make me grateful to be part of an organization that’s committed to advancing public health for 58 State and Territorial Health Officials.
What experiences did you have as a student that prepared you for your career?
While classroom learning sparked my intellectual curiosity, my extracurricular activities truly shaped my career readiness. Involvement with ASUN Student Government, the Innocents Society, and the University Health Center Advisory Board honed my leadership skills, challenged me to think innovatively, and taught me how to communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders. These experiences shaped my leadership style and helped me understand what it truly meant to be a student advocate. As a campus leader, I not only learned more about myself but also gained a broader perspective on the world and how to navigate complex challenges.
