The Sheldon Museum of Art is presenting Art and Social Justice Week from Oct. 23-30. Two of the events are related to UNL Arts and Sciences.
Oct. 25, 2 p.m.
Screening of “Through a Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People,” Thomas Allen Harris's exploration of the influence of photography in shaping America’s views on race. Dr. Kwakiutl Dreher, UNL associate professor of English, will lead a discussion following the film.
Oct. 29, 5:30 p.m.
“The Blackness of Space Between Matter and Meaning” lecture by Dr. Zakiyyah Iman Jackson. An assistant professor of English at George Mason University, Jackson presents her investigation of “the human” through mapping new ontologies within the frameworks of feminist new materialism and posthumanism. Organized by Humanities on the Edge (HotE).
