Alumna Russette Lyons will be recognized for this year's Alumni Master's program April 8-10.
Events connect outstanding alumni with students, offering valuable insights from their experiences and achievements. Students are encouraged to attend lectures, presentations, and events with the Alumni Masters, where they will discuss how to apply their formal education to real-world careers and goals.
Lyons will arrive on campus Wednesday, April 8. On Thursday, she will tour the School of Biological Sciences in Manter Hall, attend a seminar, and connect with student leaders. On Friday, she will connect with faculty and undergraduate students and attend the Nebraska Medallion Dinner.
Lyons worked for more than 30 years in diverse research, development, and administrative roles at Novartis, a global biopharmaceutical company. Before retiring in 2023, she delivered drug discovery and development courses to scientists in developing countries and led interactive, experiential science education programs for local middle and high school students.
After her undergraduate career at the State University of New York, Lyons earned her graduate degrees from Nebraska. She has been a member of several professional societies and served as President of the American College of Toxicology. Now in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she continues to support early career professionals through coaching and mentoring engagements.
