New bird species estimate soars to 18,000

Robert Zink examines a bird specimen in the collections of the University of Nebraska State Museum. Zink, professor in the schools of natural resources and of biological sciences and curator of zoology, is co-author of a paper showing that zoologists have significantly underestimated the number of living bird species.
