NUtech Ventures recognized University of Nebraska-Lincoln innovators and their promising technologies during a recent luncheon.

The Innovator of the Year award was presented to Paul Blum, professor of biological sciences, for advancing novel research into significant commercial utilization. Blum’s innovations make ethanol less expensive to produce and help progress hydrogen as a clean energy source.

Nearly 170 people attended the Oct. 6 event, including UNL faculty who have participated in the technology development and commercialization process, along with administrators, board members and staff who have supported the work.

NUtech Ventures is the intellectual property and technology commercialization unit of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. NUtech’s mission is to facilitate the commercialization and practical use of innovations generated through the research activities of UNL to promote economic development and improve quality of life.
