Ovation for Janae Aune

“Janae is a work study employee in the political science department. She has recently been helping me gather data to update election trends for a book I am writing. I can’t even begin to convey how thrilled I am with the work she has done for me! I have worked with many graduate research assistants over the years. Janae, as an undergrad, is equal to the best graduate RAs I have had. She has done the work I gave her quickly and well. Whenever she had problems gathering the data I needed, she thought up alternatives and ran them past me. I have been so impressed with her hard work, her innovation, and her professionalism (and she is only a sophomore!). Janae is also simply a delight to work with—she is easy going and kind. I enthusiastically nominate Janae for the Ovation award. She truly is deserving of this honor.”

“I would like to nominate Janae Aune for the Ovation Award because she has been an amazing addition to our department and she has left a far greater impact on all of us than we could have imagined. I first met Janae when she came to UNL on a campus visit as a high school senior. Janae was interested in coming to UNL because of our unique programing and our political science courses. I was very happy to learn that Janae got a workstudy position in political science. Janae started out doing what many work‐study students do: taking out staples, shredding, sorting, filing, etc. It was quickly apparent that she could do all of those things with ease and that she had much more to offer the department. Janae’s thoroughness impressed everyone and she was soon asked if she wanted to be an undergraduate research assistant for several professors including myself. Janae sets the standard in competency and completion. She has taken every task we have given her and excelled! Janae is a cheerful, thoughtful, friendly person who makes our workplace great! There is something special about her and when you find someone that is great at their job and a pleasure to work with, you recognize them! So please accept my nomination for the Ovation award and help us give Janae the recognition she so very much deserves! ”
