“I am writing to enthusiastically nominate Lauren Vogel for the Ovation Award. Over the past several years, Lauren has been an invaluable addition to our office, consistently demonstrating her capabilities and thoughtful approach to her work. From her first day, Lauren has proven herself to be not only a dedicated student worker but also a proactive team member. She consistently goes above and beyond in completing her tasks, often taking the initiative to identify areas for improvement and acting on those suggestions. Her ability to think critically and creatively has significantly contributed to the success of various projects within our office.
Lauren’s attention to detail and commitment to excellence are evident in everything she does. Whether it’s helping to organize events, assisting with research, or collaborating with colleagues, she approaches every task with enthusiasm and professionalism. Her positive attitude makes her a pleasure to work with, and she fosters a collaborative environment that encourages others to excel.
Moreover, Lauren's ability to balance her academic responsibilities with her work commitments is truly commendable. She manages her time effectively, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills that allow her to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality. I firmly believe that Lauren embodies the spirit of the Ovation Award. Her contributions to our office have made a lasting impact, and I am proud to support her nomination.”

“We in the CSMCE can always count on Lauren to show up on time, get her work done in a timely manner, and to top it off, bring a kind and calm presence to the office. She started at the CSMCE around the same time I did, and I've seen her grow her skills from basic administrative support to writing newsletter articles, designing graphics in Canva, taking a lead role in office supply organization, and doing research tasks. On a personal note, I enjoy getting to know Lauren and chatting with her about our similar music tastes. I enthusiastically nominate her for an Ovation award!”

“Lauren is a dependable and engaged member of the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Computer Education, consistently showing up on time and ready to work. She takes on a wide range of tasks, from routine office responsibilities to more complex research tasks, without hesitation. Her work on a current research project has been especially impressive; despite having limited prior experience with academic literature, she has quickly developed the ability to read, interpret, and thoughtfully synthesize research articles. Her reliability and willingness to take on new challenges make her a strong candidate for an Ovation Award.”

“For the past six months, Lauren has been working as an undergraduate researcher on a funded project (a CAS Strategic Priorities grant) with myself and other STEM education researchers in the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Computer Education. She joined our research efforts because she is interested in learning more about the research process and gaining experience in research, not because it was required or asked of her. Lauren deserves an Ovation Award for meeting and exceeding her duties. She has been an incredibly valuable member of our team, taking on several tasks in our extensive literature review process and quickly learning the ins and outs of the research content. Lauren has been reviewing research articles and writing concise summaries at the level of an experienced graduate student or above. She is very engaged during our discussions (with other faculty) and always asks insightful questions. Lauren is always very punctual to our meetings and even lets me know ahead of time if she will be just a couple minutes late. It has been enjoyable to get to know Lauren as a person and as a research colleague.”

“Lauren Vogel has demonstrated exceptional leadership, initiative, and reliability in her role as a student worker. Over the past year, she took on the daunting and ambiguous task of completely reorganizing our storage closet in the basement of Avery Hall—a space that had long been overwhelming and largely unusable. With minimal guidance, Lauren independently sorted, categorized, labeled, and restructured the entire area. The transformation is remarkable. Thanks to her thoughtful system, our office now operates more efficiently: we no longer purchase duplicate supplies, and every item is easy to locate.
Beyond this major project, Lauren consistently exemplifies dependability and a strong work ethic. She regularly finishes tasks ahead of schedule and proactively seeks additional ways to contribute. She anticipates the needs of the office and responds with maturity and professionalism that far exceed expectations for a student role.
Lauren’s initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to improving our workspace make her an outstanding candidate for the Ovation Award. Her impact on the CSMCE team is both tangible and deeply appreciated.”
