Potential Questions
Can I use this grant for conference travel?
Yes, if the conference participation advances your research impact (e.g., presenting work, networking for collaboration, exploring new methods). Normally, conference travel would not be the main activity for this grant mechanism.
What if my project extends beyond one year?
Funded activities are expected to be completed within one year of award notification. If circumstances require additional time, you may request a no-cost extension from the Associate Dean for Research. It is best to plan your timeline realistically and contact the office early if you anticipate needing an extension.
Can I apply if I have other internal funding?
Yes, you may apply. However, you may hold only one internal grant per fiscal year. Disclose all current and pending support in your CV/biosketch.
Can I revise my budget after an award?
Contact your department business manager and the Associate Dean for Research to discuss any necessary changes.
What if my department has multiple applicants?
Your department chair may provide a ranking based on impact. All applications are evaluated by CASRAC on their individual merits.
