Why you chose your major
I have always known that I want to attend law school, and I felt that political science is the best major to develop skills to support that. I added a minor in business & law to gain legal knowledge in a field that I haven't explored. My history minor is my "fun" minor, as I grew up loving all things history.
Favorite and/or most impactful course
POLS 160: International Relations with Andy Goodhart had a great impact on my political science learning. Professor Goodhart has tons of experience in the field and a lot of passion for teaching, which made my time in his class very fun. International relations is not an area that I had any knowledge about prior to taking this class, but I really found my footing quickly. Learning about war, power, and ideology on an international level provided me with a very valuable foundation for continuing my political science learning.
Research or internship experience
While not specifically an internship, I have had the privilege of working for the CAS Dean's Office over the last two semesters. My time in the office has taught me a lot about the internal workings of the College of Arts and Sciences, the faculty who make everything happen, and how to best support the college.
Other involvement
I am currently the Vice President of Finance for UPC Nebraska. I also am a student worker for the CAS Dean's Office and a member of Pi Sigma Alpha.
Why you chose Nebraska
Growing up in a small town, I always knew I wanted to move away from home for college. Nebraska felt like the best place to experience a big school while also benefiting from a small-school feel. When I came on my campus visit, I felt supported and cared for by every staff member and student that I interacted with, which solidified my decision.
Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
