Why you chose your major
I chose my major because I fell in love with AP Biology in high school and was eager to dive deeper in all aspects!

Favorite and/or most impactful course
One class that has made the biggest impact on me has been organic chemistry. At first, it felt overwhelming because of how detailed and concept-heavy it was, but over time it completely changed the way I think about chemistry. Instead of memorizing information, I was pushed to understand patterns, mechanisms, and why reactions happen the way that they do. It pushed me to slow down, think critically, and approach problems step by step. I didn't think I would love organic chemistry as much as I do, but the professors have been so amazing and have made me love learning the new concepts!

Research or internship experience
I have been able to work at Bryan hospital as a phlebotomist and my experience has been incredibly impactful because it's given me hands-on patient care experience and taught me the importance of precision, communication, and empathy for others. Drawing blood might seem routine, but every patient has unique needs, and I’ve learned how to make them feel comfortable and aim to be a bright spot in their day. This role has also exposed me to a variety of medical procedures, hospital positions and team dynamics in a hospital setting, which strengthened my confidence and solidified my interest in healthcare.

Other involvement
I volunteer with CEDARS Youth Organization here in Lincoln, where I lead afterschool STEM clubs for elementary kids. In this role, I facilitate hands-on activities that make science and technology engaging for the kids! Leading these clubs has allowed me to practice leadership by guiding small groups, managing activities, and encouraging the curiosity and teamwork among young students.
This experience has also allowed me to see firsthand how mentorship and education can positively impact young kids confidence and interest in STEM, just like it did for me!

Why you chose Nebraska
I was looking for somewhere out of state and loved the athletic atmosphere
