Why you chose your major
I chose Biological Sciences because I am passionate about understanding the “why” behind life. I love knowing why things happen, what causes them to happen the way they do. I also chose this major because it will help me along the pre-medicine track and prepare me for the medical field. I chose to minor in biochemistry because the classes for my major as well as the pre-med requirements fulfill a minor in biochemistry. Lastly, I chose to minor in music because I have been playing the violin since I was in the fourth grade. I knew I didn’t want to stop playing once I got to college, so I joined the campus orchestra, and it has been so fun. I also get to take entertaining music courses, and I love how these courses allow me to take a break and use a different part of my brain than I use for my other science heavy courses.

Favorite and/or most impactful course
A class that has made the biggest impact on me so far is a class I took my senior year of high school, College Biology. Although it was just scraping the surface of what I will learn about biology, it helped me confirm what I wanted my major to be in college. I think because we got to learn a little about a variety of different topics, the class sparked my curiosity and made me want to continue to learn more. I remember learning the smallest facts about life,  but I realized that is exactly what I am interested in learning. The content I learned in that class has also helped me feel more prepared for my courses I am taking my freshman year of college, specifically chemistry and genetics.

Why you chose Nebraska
I have a parent who is a Nebraska alum, so I grew up coming to games and being on campus all the time. The campus has always made me feel at home, especially now being a student here. Out of all the schools I toured, there really is no place like Nebraska.

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
