Why you chose your major
I’ve always had a passion for helping people and creating relationships with those around me. Psychology was the only major that spoke to me and aligned with my interests, and I’ve been hooked since my first introduction class. It’s an amazing degree that can be applied to many different fields; I love the flexibility of career paths that a B.A. in Psychology can lead to.
As for my minor, I’ve always had an interest in the natural sciences. Biology intertwines with many aspects of psychology, and it was important to me that I have a breadth of knowledge.
Favorite and/or most impactful course
The class that made the biggest impact on me was PSYC 288: social psychology. It is amazing to me how one class can explain the reasoning behind every interaction or behavior someone may have. I find it fascinating and I have been able to apply this knowledge to many of my own relationships.
Research or internship experience
I have had research experiences with the Cognitive Affective Neuroscience lab on campus. I am continuing to search for further research and internship opportunities.
Other involvement
I am the secretary for our University Psychology Club, a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and a Campus Host through the UNL admissions office. I have also recently taken a position as a Big Red Resilience and Well-Being Ambassador.
Why you chose Nebraska
My dad was born and raised in Nebraska and attended UNL for his undergrad. So, I was technically born a Husker fan. As soon as I visited campus for the first time, I fell in love with it and knew that UNL was the college for me.
Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
