Why you chose your major
I chose to major in psychology because of my interest in understanding the "why" behind human behavior. I have always been compelled by the investigative aspects of psychology and my desire to understand variation in human behavior and its causes led me to choose my major.
Favorite and/or most impactful course
The class that has made the biggest impact on me was Brain and Behavior. I found the material to be really interesting, and this class was the reason I became fascinated with the biological foundation of human behavior. After taking the course, I was inspired to concentrate more on the clinical aspects of psychology as well.
Research or internship experience
I am currently involved in a research lab called the IMPACT lab. I work under a graduate student who's working on her dissertation here at UNL. As an undergraduate research assistant, I am involved in a project focusing on post traumatic cognition and risky behaviors and how they are correlated.
Other involvement
I am currently involved in SALT, which is an on-campus student ministry. Other than that, I am looking to become more involved in upcoming semesters at UNL!
Why you chose Nebraska
I originally decided to attend a smaller school to pursue collegiate sports, but when I realized that I had aspirations for graduate school, I decided I needed to be somewhere that better prepared me for that. I decided to transfer to Nebraska because of the vast amount of opportunities here on campus, ranging from social to career development. Additionally, growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska, I have always cheered for the huskers and it is hard to picture myself anywhere else!
Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
