Ava Glover

Meet Ava Glover, junior economics major with a minor in communication studies, from Pittsburg, Kansas! She studied abroad in the popular Nebraska at Oxford program. Here is why she loved the program:

"I studied international and political economics at Jesus College in Oxford, England. I chose it because the program aligned with my interests, and I have always loved English culture. Some memorable parts of the trip included going punting on the River Thames, visiting Buckingham Palace, watching 'Mamma Mia' on the West End, going to the horse races, visiting Amsterdam on a weekend, and having high tea.

Through my classes, I learned about the interdependence of markets and role of international relations in economics, as well as understanding another culture. I especially enjoyed learning about the UK's universal healthcare system, the creation of the European Union and Brexit. Besides attending classes and sightseeing, it was nice to make friends on this trip!

For any students on the fence about studying abroad, I would recommend looking into the financial aid resources. My biggest worry was whether I could afford the program, but I was thankfully able to receive some scholarships to offset the costs. Also it is possible to travel light! I traveled with only my two carry-on bags and was able to do laundry."
