joining a group of amazing alumni that I can lean on and connect with across the globe. I truly feel like there has been so much support from UNL in terms of student services, RSOs and beyond that I will still experience that support and advice after I get my diploma.
Transformational moment
An experience that I am still taking part in as I come to a close with undergrad is working at the UNL Public Policy Center. I joined as a part of Policy Scholars in January of 2022 and I transitioned to my current role as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in May of 2022. I have received so much support, guidance, and countless learning opportunities from my supervisors and other researchers at the center. Having a group of mentors like I have at the PPC has made it much easier to take on challenges and believe that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to and has changed the way that I think about my future.
I am able to get real life experience working in an office and seeing how different policies at the state and local level actually help people in their day to day lives. I am also expanding my portfolio through qualitative and quantitative research and honing my writing skills on multiple projects as a research assistant. I am constantly learning new qualities, becoming more patient and detailed in my work, and gaining more confidence in my own knowledge and abilities. I am able to apply concepts that I have learned from my political science and psychology courses in my work and see how what I'm learning at UNL can translate to my future career.
After graduation, I am most looking forward to...
taking a break from school to apply what I've learned at UNL in my career and to life in general. I am excited to start my career and learn more about myself.
The best thing about being a Husker is...
making new friends all over campus and getting to know all kinds of people and their experiences. I have really treasured getting to know so many different people in my classes and through the organizations I am a part of.

My biggest thank you goes to Julie Nickel, the operations manager at the Supply Chain Management and Analytics office in the College of Business. She has been giving me guidance and advice since around May 2022 and she has shown me how to take a break when I am overwhelmed, how to connect with people on a deeper level, and how to listen to others. She is constantly showing me how to be the best version of myself and always encourages me to do my best at whatever I put my mind to. She is always a positive light on a bad day and truly makes me feel like I can do anything I want in life.
