Why you chose your major
I chose biology and psychology because I fell in love with labs and hands on science my freshman year of college. After realizing I could really mix and match majors to create my own college path, I added journalism due to my previous experiences with newspaper in high school. I have loved being able to explore areas that interest me and continue to learn more about topics that I could continue investigating in grad school.
Favorite and/or most impactful course
The class that has made the biggest impact on me was LIFE120 because it was in this lecture/lab duo where I truly found my calling to biology. Prior to this class, I intended to be an anthropology major, but after getting to do experiments and learn more about humans and animals on such a microscopic level, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life.
Research or internship experience
I began research the spring semester of my freshman year in the microbio department within the Beadle Center. I worked with Dr. Jithesh Vijayan and Dr. Ken Nickerson, aiding them with their research in various algae species while working closely amongst their other undergrads and fellow postdoctoral fellows.
Other involvement
Besides being a CAS Ambassador, I am or previously have been involved in: NHRI mentorship, Research at the Beadle Center, Computer Science research, Daily Nebraskan News Writer, Pre-genetic Counseling club, ballroom dancing club, and pickleball club!
Why you chose Nebraska
I chose to come to Nebraska because Nebraska is home! I was born and raised in Lincoln and have loved the college town/big city feel Lincoln has. I was lucky enough to come to college with friends from high school and have made many more along the way.
Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
