Why you chose your major

I have always loved anything that had to do with English so that was the obvious choice when I came to college, for my art history minor: I grew up with a passion for learning about art because of my dad, he was a big artist and loved drawing, so I would sit in his office for hours to read and look at all the pictures in the art books he has and that made me want to learn more about other artists that are out there. For medieval and renaissance studies, it was another era I also loved, some of my favorite shows to watch growing up were anything that had to do with the tudor dynasty or different documentaries about Henry VIII or the painting of the Sistine Chappel.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

ENGL231: 19th Century British Literature, I took this class freshman year with Laura White and this class made me realize how much I love that era and origin of literature. Wordsworth became one of my favorite authors and poets and I have been studying him since then.

Research or internship experience

I was a TA for children’s literature last semester with Laura White!!

Other involvement

Member of Gamma Phi Beta.

Why you chose Nebraska

I decided to come to Nebraska because I wanted to experience a different city, growing up in Omaha was all I knew and I didn’t want to venture too far from home so I chose UNL, their English department was what I needed to continue to thrive and I don’t think I could see myself anywhere else now.
