Dean's Fall Message: All Are Welcome

To everyone in our College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) community—welcome to the start of a new and exciting academic year.

This year, perhaps more than ever before, we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to return to the unique learning and social environment that comes with in-person, residential education.

The College of Arts and Sciences annually recognizes the remarkable accomplishments and service of our alumni who have demonstrated lifetime career achievement or excellence in their field and community.

This award is separate from the Alumni Association's awards, which we highly encourage submissions for as well.

Second year of CAS Inquire launches with new theme

Joseph Mendola of the Department of Philosophy opened the "Pleasure and Pain" series of talks on September 7 by exploring two fundamental questions about pain and pleasure: What is their nature? What role do they play in a good life?

Join us in person or via Zoom for future talks:

  • October 5 with Casey Kelly of communication studies
  • November 9 with Nora Peterson of modern languages and literatures
  • January 25 with Roberto Abadie of anthropology
  • February 22 with Tierney Lorenz of psychology
