Nomination Details
Professorships
Submit nominations to casdeansoffice@unl.edu by October 1, 2025, for university professorships. For a list of university professorships available for nomination in the current cycle, see the EVC professorships website.
The Douglas/Weaver, Cather/Bessey, and Rosowski professorship nominations are solicited every year. The EVC’s Office will announce the availability of other professorships by mid-September. Faculty interested in nominating a colleague or in nominating themselves should have an initial conversation with their unit chair or director before submitting.
These nominations must be reviewed and ranked by the CAS Endowed Professorships Committee prior to submission to the EVC, which posts a later deadline. The Dean’s Office will send nominations forward for further consideration as the committee directs.
Teaching Awards
Submit nominations to casdeansoffice@unl.edu by Dec. 1, 2025, for the upcoming teaching awards at the university or college level. All nominations must be reviewed by the CAS Awards Committee.
Applies to: College Distinguished Teaching Award, Hazel McClymont Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award, Annis Chaikin Sorensen Distinguished Teaching Award in the Humanities*, Edgerton Junior Faculty Award*.

College-level Recognition
Applause Award
Monthly award honoring our staff who perform their jobs extraordinarily well. Six recipients will receive an Annual Applause Award at our annual celebration.
CAS Engagement Award
Recognizes people or units involved in exemplary engagement activities that have an impact beyond the university.

CAS Mentoring Award
Honors faculty or staff involved in exemplary mentoring activities. Many of our faculty and staff are dedicated and effective mentors, and this award recognizes mentoring excellence that goes above and beyond normally expected contributions.

Recognizes significant research and creative accomplishments of UNL faculty in the last five years.

Distinguished Teaching Awards
The College Distinguished Teaching Award honors consistently excellent teaching. The Hazel McClymont Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award honors exemplary teaching, based on four criteria.

University professorships are the highest form of recognition offered at the campus level.

Recognizes an individual for his/her outstanding teaching in the humanities.

Honors an outstanding junior faculty member who has demonstrated creative research, extraordinary teaching abilities, and academic promise.

Honors an academic leader who has demonstrated exceptional abilities to lead, serve, inspire, and collaborate on the academic goals of the university.
