Agee, Wishart are Nebraska Book Award winners

Jonis Agee and David Wishart have received awards from the Nebraska Center for the Book for books published in 2016.

Agee, Adele Hall Professor in the Department of English, received the award in Fiction for The Bones of Paradise, a multigenerational family saga is set in the Nebraska Sandhills 10 years after the massacre at Wounded Knee.

Wishart, a professor in the Geography program, received the award in Nonfiction Reference for Great Plains Indians, which looks at how Native American nations were affected by the arrival of Europeans several hundred years ago.

The Nebraska Book Awards program, sponsored by the Nebraska Center for the Book, recognizes and honors books that are written by Nebraska authors, published by Nebraska publishers, set in Nebraska, or concerning Nebraska.
