2019 English Graduate

What were your areas of study?
I majored in English and minored in communication studies.

What is your job title, and what kind of work does it involve?
I’m a Recruitment Specialist with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Office of Admissions. I attend high schools, college fairs, assist with events promoted by admissions. As well as assist prospective students with what they need when applying for the university.

What sparked your interest in your areas of study?
English was always something that interested me. My major is so versatile and I can use it anywhere and everywhere I work.

How have you seen value in your areas of study?
My degree is valuable because it has given me a new perspective on various things. It has also given me a foundation for any future endeavors that comes my way.

How did your education and areas of study help you get to where you are today?
During my undergrad, I was a campus host. By networking with others in admissions I was able to find and apply for the position as a recruitment specialist. I’ve applied my major by working with others and sharing my love for furthering one’s education.

Were there any other experiences from your time at UNL that helped you get to where you are now?
My student job as a campus host led me to this position in admissions. I have come to love higher education and I am currently applying to the graduate program at Nebraska.
