Distinguished alumni will return to campus for the Multicultural Homecoming event. Created by the Chancellor's Commission on the Status of People of Color, the event honors the university's multicultural alumni and connects them with students and faculty.

This year's theme is "Space Makers: Creating opportunities by building connections between alumni and current students."

Chosen for their achievements and support of the campus and community, four with ties to Arts and Sciences will be returning:

Isabel Salas

  • Community Builder at South of Downtown
  • 2017 graduate, political science, women's and gender studies, global studies, human rights and humanitarian affairs

Selina Martinez

  • Organizing Director at Nebraska Appleseed
  • 2015 graduate, sociology

Zain Saleh

  • School Community Organizer at Lincoln Public Schools
  • 2016 graduate, psychology

Bennie Shobe Jr.

  • Current Lincoln City Councilman and Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice
  • Sociology PhD program

During their visit, they will have opportunities to interact with current students and a favorite faculty member that made an impact on them.
