Brendan Batliner, a freshman and computer science major in the Raikes School of Computer Science and Management, has had his company named part of the Top 64 in the Student Startup Madness (SSM) tournament.

He started Omnipointment with Vinesh Kannan from Illinois Institute of Technology. Their company helps teams schedule their meetings more easily.

"College students and many professionals are very busy," Batliner wrote, "and a big inspiration for Omnipointment came from hearing how my classmates struggled to get together for group projects."

SSM is the only nationwide collegiate tournament focused on digital media startups. Finalists go to South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive in March 2016 to pitch their ideas to well-known investors and entrepreneurs. Student startup teams from 38 colleges and universities across the country compete.

"We want to represent UNL and show the rest of the country what our schools have helped us do," Batliner wrote.
