Gamma Theta Upsilon, the geography honorary society, inducted new student members at a ceremony on April 10 in Hardin Hall.

Those inductees are: Melissa Allen, Brooke Bolin, Cole Chisam, Nathaniel Cox, Gabrielle Esquitin, Andrew Husa, Marc Marean, Justin Mueller, Zachary Nelson, and Rachel Venteicher.

Initiates must have taken a minimum of three geography courses, have a GPA of at least 3.3 in geography classes and have completed three semesters of college coursework.

At UNL, GTU is integrated with the Geography Student Organization (GSO). GSO is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in geography and related fields. Various group activities take place every semester to promote geography in the UNL and greater Lincoln communities.

GTU is an international honor society in geography that was founded in 1928 and became a national organization in 1931. The Alpha Phi chapter was chartered at UNL in December 1952.
