Major: History
Involvement: Honors Peer Mentor Leader, president of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board (CASSAB), member of Mortar Board Senior Honors Society

Anna's favorite part of being in the Honors Program has been the community she felt beginning her first year while living in Honors housing.

“My favorite experience was living in the Honors dorm my freshman year and recognizing pretty much everyone that would walk by the study rooms," she said. "So many friends would drop by and I felt like I could study with any of them!”

Anna became an Honors Peer Mentor as a way to share that experience and welcoming environment with others.

“I wanted to help new students experience the same positive community I found in Honors my freshman year. I wanted to be a resource for new students so they felt like they could find a home in Honors too.”

Anna has also discovered the value of building a diverse community of friends in Honors and advises incoming Honors students to do the same!

“Go to Honors events and reach out to people outside of your major/honors track. I have close friends in Raikes, the Nebraska Business Honors Academy, and many other majors that are different from my own. Try to build a diverse community of friends and find people that challenge you!”
