Emma Bitterman spent this past summer studying abroad in Angers, France at l’Université Catholique de l’Ouest. She lived with a host family near the university and took French language and culture classes during her stay.
Throughout the summer, Emma became more confident in her French listening and speaking skills. As a Biochemistry and French major, Emma is often asked about her contrasting studies. However, Emma would like to pursue international medical or organic chemical research, and believes her second language skills can open the door to many opportunities. While in France, Emma grew her professional network as she met people from all over the world and spoke to many students about their scientific research.
Emma hopes this experience, which she researched during “UHON 201H: Huskers Abroad” last fall, will set her up well for the future:
“This was my first time visiting France, but I know this will not be my last. I’m already excited to plan the next time I come out here, whether for graduate school or to begin my career!”
