Happy National Transfer Student Week! We are spotlighting a few of our students who have transferred and become Huskers. Meet Hannah Higgins.

Major: Anthropology
Hometown: Lincoln, NE

What brought you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
After graduating from Southeast Community College, I didn't know if I wanted to pursue a bachelor's degree. However, my love for learning and the value I place on education guided me to University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Not only was it affordable and my credits transferred without a problem, but the robust experiences and immense amount of research conducted by the professors in the anthropology department ensured I would be learning from the best.

Why did you select your major and were there any experiences that convinced you to declare?
Anthropology was a subject I had never explored while completing my associate's degree. After reading Mountains Beyond Mountains by Dr. Paul Farmer, a medical anthropologist, and hearing about the holistic approach to studying the human experience through an anthropological lens, I knew anthropology would keep my interest and provide a path to careers later on.

Who have been some of your strongest mentors or role models here?
Jean Colligan and Radell Nared in the Office of Admissions have served as not only my supervisors but mentors in my journey here on campus.

What are you involved in on campus?
I work in the Office of Admissions.

What are your plans after graduation?
I am actively looking for a job at the moment, hopefully within higher education or immigration law.
