When he was a high school student, Jackson found his passion for creating awareness and providing support for sexual violence victims. After seeing the movie "The Hunting Ground" and diving deep into his own research for his senior thesis, he realized how many lives are regularly affected by sexual violence and wanted to find a way to help.

That's why Jackson joined the Association of Students at the University of Nebraska, where he promotes and creates projects related to sexual violence awareness. During April, which is Sexual Violence Awareness Month, he organized a group to distribute teal (the color associated as a symbol of sexual violence awareness) cloths and sell teal bands to raise money to help survivors.

Jackson hopes that if people become more open about discussing sexual violence, then they'll also become more open to talking about what causes it, how it can be prevented, and how survivors and victims can be helped. "I think that the first step towards solving any problem is acknowledging there's a problem, and then talking about the problem," he said.

Jackson thinks that if the student body takes the steps to talk about sexual violence and campus safety, then there really will be no place like Nebraska. "That'll just further the amount of pride that students have going here," Jackson said.
