22 students receive Big Ten Conference award

22 student athletes from a variety of majors have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. These students have a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.

Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. Recipients must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at UNL.

The recipients are:

  • Austen Urness, psychology
  • Taryn Collura, psychology and film studies
  • Michaela Cunningham, biological sciences and mathematics *
  • Krista Van Wie, psychology
  • Mackenna Maddox-Herr, geography
  • Katerina Matysova, psychology
  • Cam Holmes, biological sciences
