Over the next year, a group of faculty and staff will develop the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's first comprehensive global engagement strategy and set goals for campus internationalization.

Last year, the university joined the American Council on Education’s 17th Internationalization Laboratory cohort. Each institution forms a leadership team to carry out internationalization goals.

Sophia Perdikaris, chair of the Department of Anthropology in the School of Global Integrative Studies, will co-lead the Steering Committee for the ACE Laboratory with Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs Josh Davis, Frauke Hachtmann of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, and Cody Hollist of the College of Education and Human Sciences.

CAS faculty on the leadership team:

  • Courtney Hillebrecht, political science and human rights and humanitarian affairs
  • Emira Ibrahimpasic, global studies (School of Global Integrative Studies)
  • Patrice McMahon, political science and University Honors
  • Isabel Velasquez, Spanish (Department of Modern Languages and Literatures)
