A new study by UNL sociologist Lisa Kort-Butler found that adolescents who experience health problems are more likely to later engage in delinquency and marijuana use. The study used data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health.

"The relationship is largely explained by the impact of poor health on absences and problems at school," Kort-Butler wrote.

The study, "Health-Related Strains and Subsequent Delinquency and Marijuana Use," was published in Youth and Society.
