White wins National Championship debate title

University of Nebraska-Lincoln undergraduate student Colten White won the National Championship in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the National Forensics Association national tournament on April 23rd.

Aaron Duncan, director of Speech & Debate, exclaimed, “This is the first national debate championship in the 147-year history of Speech & Debate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Colten is incredibly hardworking and exemplified professionalism, eloquence, and outstanding arguments against the top debaters in the nation. This is major accomplishment for Colten and the Speech & Debate program and establishes the university as a national leader in debate and argumentation.”

White, of Kearney, Nebraska, is a junior majoring in Secondary English Education with minors in Communication Studies and English. He is also the head debate coach at Lincoln Northstar High School.
