Xiao Cheng Zeng, Chancellor's University Professor of Chemistry, has been named to the 2019 Highly Cited Researchers list. Since 2002, the Web of Science Group has published the list annually to recognize the world's most influential researchers across 21 fields in the sciences and social sciences.

The 2019 list represents 6,217 researchers from nearly 60 nations whose multiple highly-cited papers rank in the top one percent by citations for field and year. Zeng is also one of 2,491 researchers in the list identified as having cross-field impact, a category added in 2018 to indicate researchers with substantial influence across several fields.

Web of Science is the world's largest publisher-neutral citation index and research intelligence platform. U.S. News and World Report uses the list as a "Scientific Excellence Indicator" in their calculation of the "Best Global Universities" ranking.

Zeng leads the Zeng Research Group, and his research covers energy science, materials science, and atmospheric chemistry. He was named a Materials Research Society Fellow earlier this year and was previously named a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, among others.
