Why you chose your major

I've been obsessed with the weather since I was a kid, and it's stuck with me my whole life!

Favorite course

My favorite course is METR 205 because you start tying together the math and meteorology that you've learned and applying it to real world problems. Also my professor is the best one EVER and she is a spectacular teacher!!!

Research, education abroad, or internship experience

In the summer of 2018 I was part of the meteorology research team called Project TORUS. We spent about a month throughout the Midwest chasing and studying severe storms. With the help of a couple other universities we used state-of-the-art equipment, like ground based mobile radars and unmanned drones, to obtain observations from different parts of the storms. By far, the best experience so far in my college career!!!

Other involvement

I am a member of the American Meteorological Society club on campus. AMS is a fantastic place to meet other meteorology students, and learn about what the major has to offer here at UNL. My favorite perk of the club is helping run Weatherfest, an annual festival on the Innovation Campus that has games, info fairs, and special speakers come and talk about their chasing experiences.

Why you chose Nebraska

UNL is a comfortable distance away from Omaha, and sets well in my price range. The most important reason though is the outstanding meteorology department!

Student Ambassadors group

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who talk to prospective students, parents, alumni, and the general public about the college.
